Chain of Responsibility for Health & Safety Professionals

Overview

This course is designed for health and safety professionals and other roles providing professional advice on CoR obligations and the primary duty.

Over 5 modules, this course takes the learner on a journey from understanding the architecture of the Heavy Vehicle National Law to integrating WHS risk management, governance and safety management system principles within a HVNL context. Features include:

• The different ways the law is applied within the HVNL through prescriptive and duty based offences Similarities and differences between the WHS legislation and the HVNL
• Safety management system integration
• Using WHS contractor management principles when engaging transport providers.

Learning objectives:

• Explain the scope, key definitions and structure of the HVNL, differentiating between the prescriptive and duty based offences, as they apply to the parties in the chain.
• Interpret the principles and duties in Chapter 1A.
• Identify and map your organisation’s transport activities, shared responsibilities and apply risk management principles in line with the primary duty.
• Recognise alignment between WHS and CoR safety management systems to support system performance and due diligence.
• Evaluate third-party interactions in the context of the shared responsibility and duties.
